STAFF APPLICATIONS

SUMMER 2018

Below you will find a list of staff positions and descriptions that we are looking to fill for summer 2018. To apply for any of these positions please complete the Staff Application Form Here.

Applicants must also provide a criminal record check, (to be completed through your local RCMP detatchment), and two personal references from non-relatives. References can be completed online here.

PROGRAM STAFF

Program Assistants (2 Positions May 1- September 1; $1500/month)

  • They will assist the Program Director in the overall running of the spring, summer, and fall programs. Responsible for planning, organising and coordinating the camp events and special staff events in a team approach. Applicants must have substantial camp or youth ministry experience, leadership experience, be creative, have contagious enthusiasm, excellent communication and organisational skills. Must have a good understanding of how summer camp programs run and be comfortable being up front leading events. Preference will be given to applicants aged 19 and over. Program Assistants are responsible to the Program Director.

Day Camp Coordinator (1 Position June 1- September 1; $1500/month)

  • This person will be responsible for organising, executing, and supervising day camps. They will supervise Junior Cabin Leaders as the facilitate day camps. They must have a good understanding of how to use various tools around the camp setting. This person must be well organised and able to lead a group of young people in accomplishing these jobs. Preference will be given to applicants aged 19 and over. Day Camp Coordinator is responsible to the Program Director.

Day Camp Coordinator Assistant (1 Position June 1- September 1; $100/week honorarium)

  • Responsible for assisting and aiding the Day Camp Coordinator in organising and executing day camps. They will work with and help lead day camp leaders. They must be very teachable and able to lead their peers. This person must be well organised. Preference will be given to applicants 17 years of age or older. Responsible to the Program Director.

Support Staff Coordinator (1 Position June 1- September 1; $1500/month)

  • They will oversee all support staff, organising schedules, leading them in duties, and leading regular times of intentional discipleship. They must have a good understanding of the kitchen and dish-pit, as well as the other workings of our camp program. They must be well organising and able to lead young people in accomplishing tasks. Responsible to the Program Director.

SUMMER STAFF

Senior Cabin Leader (Positions Available: 6 Male, 6 Female; $100/week honorarium)

  • Being a cabin leader is not a holiday. You need to be approachable to campers, parents, and other staff. You will become a “substitute parent” for a group of 6-11 campers providing spiritual, physical, emotional, and social leadership. Your goal is to provide safety to the campers and report any major problems if seen or heard. You will also participate in the general operation and planning of the camp program. The Cabin Leader is responsible to the Program Director. All Senior Cabin Leaders much be 17 years of age or older.

Junior Cabin Leader (Day and Residential Camp)

  • A Junior Cabin Leader is filling one of two roles. The will either be in a cabin as a support to the Senior Cabin Leader or they will help facilitate the day camp program. In both roles opportunities will be given to be responsible for a group of campers, facilitate camp activities, games and contribute to the spiritual content of camp life, (i.e., testimonies, chapel, and bible studies). All Junior Cabin Leaders must be 14 years of age or older.

Support Staff (Kitchen, Dish Pit, Day Camp, Maintenance Crew)

  • They will work closely with the Head Cook on preparing, serving and cleaning up of camp meal times. Kitchen Help will also volunteer to help with other camp activities that don’t inhibit their required time in the kitchen. They Kitchen Helper is responsible to the Head Cook, Assistant Cook, and Program Staff. Support staff should be going into Grade 7 or older.

OPERATIONAL STAFF

Head Cook (1 Position May 1- September 20; $2000/month)

  • They are in charge of all Kitchen and Dining areas. They will oversee all food preparation, serving and after meal kitchen clean up. They will work closely with the Assistant Cook on preparing, serving and cleaning up of all camp meal times. The Head Cook is responsible to the Operations Manager.

Assistant Cook (1 Position May 1- September 1; $1500/month)

  • The Assistant Cook works closely with the Head Cook on preparing, serving and cleaning up of all camp meal times. Kitchen Help will also help with other camp activities that don’t inhibit their required time in the kitchen. Preference will be given to applicants 18 years of age or older. The Assistant Cook is responsible to the Head Cook and Operations Manager.

Food Purchaser (1 Position May 1- September 1; Volunteer)

  • They will work closely with the Head Cook in ordering and keeping stock of all the necessary summer food as dictated by the menu. They may make trips to town to pick up fresh produce, and other small and/or fresh items. Food Purchaser is not a full time position but can be paired with other duties in the kitchen or outside if desired.

Lifeguard/First Aid (2 Positions July 1- September 1; $1500/month)

  • Applicants must have a valid National Life Saving Certificate. They will be responsible for the general health and safety of the campers and staff. They will administer first aid when needed and assist in emergency procedures. They must be organized and able to keep records and hand our medication when necessary. They will be required to guard the swimming time in the afternoon as well as teach the swimming skills in the morning, (if applicable). The Lifeguard will also help with other camp activities that don’t inhibit their required guarding times. The Lifeguard/First Aid Attendant is responsible to the Program Director. Preference will be given to applicants 18 years of age or older.
